This was a movie based off of true events. But, in true Walt Disney fashion, they turned it into a heartwarming tale. The choreography in this film is very fun to watch and truly made me appreciate how much effort had to go into the choreography to have something for everyone to do even when they weren’t center stage. For me, it was very odd seeing Christian Bale in a role that was both PG and a musical, but I really believed his character once I got into the story. Still kind of odd though, after the fact. However, my attention to him is what made me start watching individuals in the background of the choreography which gave me the aforementioned appreciation. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, there were some very catchy tunes that kept this musical in my good graces. They informed the plot and kept it spritely without relying too much on them that you get taken out of the story. The characters were all very enjoyable and played really well off of each other in their respective parts to keep the camaraderie and combativeness convincing and interesting. I would definitely rewatch this movie.
