Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

Before I watched this film, I had heard many mixed reviews from the people around me. It appeared that people either loved this film or hated it, but it still seemed like a movie I should watch. And I had liked Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood so I figured it was worth a shot. The first chapter (as the movie is broken up) introduced Christoph Waltz’s Colonel Hans Landa. I was very unsure what to make of this character, but I found myself gripped by the scene. When the next chapter rolls around, and we are introduced to the Inglourious Basterds themselves, I found myself laughing at very unfunny situations just because of the way it was written. Now, overall, I rather enjoyed this film, and I think people who are looking for the point of this movie are missing the point. But I do have to admit, I am a sucker for anything with Daniel Brühl, and he did not disappoint here.
